Dynamics of a 3 cluster cell-cycle system with positive linear feedback

چکیده
In this technical note we calculate the dynamics of a linear feedback model of progression in the cell cycle in the case that the cells are organized into k = 3 clusters. We examine the dynamics in detail for a specific subset of parameters with non-empty interior. There is an interior fixed point of the Poincaré map defined by the system. This fixed point corresponds to a periodic solution with period T in which the three clusters exchange positions after time T/3. We call this solution 3-cyclic. In all the parameters studied, the fixed point is either: • isolated and locally unstable, or, • contained in a neutrally stable set of period 3 points. In the later case the edges of the neutrally stable set are unstable. This case exists if either the three clusters are isolated from each other, or, if they interact in a nonessential way. In both cases the orbits of all other interior points are asymptotic to the boundary. Thus 3-cyclic solutions are practically unstable in the sense the arbitrarily small perturbations may lead to loss of stability and eventual merger of clusters. Since the single cluster solution (synchronization) is the only solution that is asymptotically stable, it would seem to be the most likely to be observed in application if the feedback is similar to the form we propose and is positive.

Time-delays are important components of many dynamical systems that describe coupling or interconnection between dynamics, propagation or transport phenomena, and heredity and competition in population dynamics. The stabilization with time delay in observation or control represents difficult mathematical challenges in the control of distributed parameter systems. It is well-known that the stabi...
متن کاملA Systems Dynamics Model for Project Management systems of Project-Based Organization
It is obvious that the success of a project-based organization is dependent on its projects. A variety of tools such as the project excellence model, project management maturity models, the earned value method, have been developed in this regard, but there are still delays in projects because the projects have dynamic nature with non-linear relationships and feedback processes during the projec...
متن کاملAn LPV Approach to Sensor Fault Diagnosis of Robotic Arm
One of the major challenges in robotic arms is to diagnosis sensor fault. To address this challenge, this paper presents an LPV approach. Initially, the dynamics of a two-link manipulator is modelled with a polytopic linear parameter varying structure and then by using a descriptor system approach and a robust design of a suitable unknown input observer by means of pole placement method along w...
متن کاملClustering in cell cycle dynamics with general response/signaling feedback.
Motivated by experimental and theoretical work on autonomous oscillations in yeast, we analyze ordinary differential equations models of large populations of cells with cell-cycle dependent feedback. We assume a particular type of feedback that we call responsive/signaling (RS), but do not specify a functional form of the feedback. We study the dynamics and emergent behavior of solutions, parti...
